Description

Beautiful and durable garden gates are what every garden-proud green-fingered person is in much need of. The most spectacular garden can be spoilt by that hideous old and creaky garden gate falling off its hinges at the corner of the garden. Don't let such an insignificant and minor detail completely ruin all your hard work and effort, it can be easily and most of all, cheaply fixed. The simplest garden gate can make a huge difference in the presentation of your beautiful garden, and most importantly of all, it will keep your garden safe. No one wants that ugly eye sore at the edge of their garden with its rotten wood and rusty hinges. It can put anyone off from wanting to enter your garden, and if you are planning to sell you house forget it. Potential buyers will take one look at your garden fence and wonder what else you have left so carelessly to rot. Remember, the first thing that people will see when pulling up to your house is your gate, no matter how beautiful your house or your garden may be, their initial minds will be made up by seeing what is on the outside. Whether it's a front garden or back garden gate that you are looking for make sure you make the best choice. Front garden gates should always be small and neat, letting every one know how house and garden proud you really are. These gates should accent your front garden, showing and not hiding the beauty it produces. As this is the gate that will be used the most make sure it is make from quality materials, this will ensure its durability. Be prepared to take care of it if its wood you choose. Back garden gates should be secure and made from tough materials to ensure your gardens safety, especially if you have a greenhouse or a shed. This however does not mean it has to be ugly, there are so many different designs to chose from you will be able to find a beautiful gate that will suit and compliment your garden perfectly. Don't panic about having to spend a fortune on your garden gate either, there are plenty of gorgeous, quality, well made gates to chose from. Take your time and you will find the perfect gate you have always been searching for. There are many different fence and gate designs that you can place in your landscape plan. Which you choose depends on two main factors - the design of the surrounding area and the function the gate (and fence) is to perform. In many places, the type of fence and gate you can set up has already been established and there are covenants in place to protect the look of a neighborhood. In some areas, fences and gates are not allowed. But in others, it comes down to individual choice. There are also a lot of secondary factors to consider. Is the gate intended to keep children in or other people's animals out of the yard? Will the gate serve as an inviting entry to your property? Will the gate get heavy use, or will it be used only occasionally? A gate to keep small children inside a fence needs to be sufficiently solid, or made of mesh, so that an adventurous toddler cannot squeeze through or beneath it. Latches should be out of reach. However, if security is not a requirement a more open gate, perhaps of wrought iron, will admit air and light and allow visitors to see through to the property beyond. Gates should be in keeping with the wall or fence in which they are hung. Thus, a timber gate works well in a timber fence and a picket fence needs a gate that is also made of pickets, to add to its charm. Timber, wrought iron, and aluminum are commonly used materials and gates of various dimensions can be purchased ready-made from many different suppliers if you don't want to make it yourself. A recycled gate from a demolition yard can be used to good effect within a garden - perhaps to divide a "wild" area of the garden from one that has a more structured appearance.
